Liparis coelogynoides

Fairy sphinx orchid

This epiphytic or occasionally lithophytic orchid grows in the rainforests around Brisbane. It often forms large clumps covering the tree trunks.

This orchid has pseudobulbs to 12 mm by 16 mm with usually 2 leaves to 15 cm by 15 mm. The flower stem grows to 20 cm with up to 20 yellow green flowers. The flowers are about 15 mm across with a wedge shaped labellum.

Liparis coelogynoides can be easily separated from other similar Liparis by its weakly bent labellum.
