Liparis habenarina

Common sphinx orchid, common hobgoblin orchid

This deciduous terrestrial grows in swampy areas around Brisbane.

It has two or three pleated leaves to 25 cm long. The flower stem grows to 60 cm with up to 20 flowers each 6 mm across.

The flower is green and brownish. The unusual flower is unlikely to be confused with any other orchid flower.
