Pterostylis obtusa

Blunt-tongue greenhood

This terrestrial orchid grows in moist areas in the open eucalyptus forests around Brisbane.

The non-flowering rosette has up to 6 stalked leaves to about 25 mm by 15 mm. The plants which flower do not have rosettes, but have a flower stem to 25 cm tall with up to 5 stem bracts. The flower is green with white stripes to about 19 mm tall. The protruding sinus of this species is very distinctive.

This species is very similar to Pterostylis russellii but can be distinguished by the labellum only just protruding from the sinus.
