Pterostylis ophioglossa

Snake-tongue greenhood

This terrestrial orchid grows in moist areas in the open forests around Brisbane.

The rosette has up to 6 stalked leaves to about 45 mm by 20 mm. The flower stem is about 20 cm tall with the flower 30 mm tall. The flower is green with white stripes and the labellum is distinctly forked at the tip.

This species can be identified by its green and white flowers with forked labellum and dull green rosette. It is very similar to Pterostylis collina, but can be separated as the collina rosette has shiny green leaves.
