Austral ladies tresses

This common deciduous terrestrial orchid grows in moist short grassy areas around Brisbane. It also commonly grows in lawns and disturbed areas such as roadside drains.

This orchid has up to 10 grass like leaves surrounding the flower stem to 50 cm with up to 60 flowers arranged in a spiral. The flowers are each 6 mm wide and are bright pink with white labellum.

No other orchid can be confused with this orchid when in flower.
